Brochure to learn about the life story of José Miguel Abreu Cardet

Abstract
This article was motivated by the need to implement proposals that contribute to the understanding of local historians and their work among students at the Luis Martínez Almaguer Pre-University Institute in the municipality of Gibara, Holguín. Therefore, the authors´ objective was to present a brochure to promote understanding of the life story of José Miguel Abreu Cardet and his influence as a historian safeguarding the nation´s historical memory.
The methodology combined qualitative research approaches, which allowed for the identification of shortcomings in the teaching-learning process of Cuban history related to the understanding of its historians and their legacy; the compilation, description, and interpretation of information about the life work, and influence of the historian under study; and the creation of a brochure for its study. The results of its implementation demostrated its feasilility, reflected in greater student knowledge and an increase in the quality of the Cuban history teaching process.
